Welcome to Allandale

Allandale is a neighborhood located 6 miles north of downtown Austin. The neighborhood is bordered by Mopac on the west, Burnet Road on the east, West Anderson Lane to the north and 45th street to the south. highly regarded for its close proximity to central Austin, large, flat lots with mature trees. It was developed in the 1950s and is one of the first communities in the country to have air conditioning. Shoal Creek bisects the neighborhood.

Local Lifestyle

Allandale offers a quiet neighborhood with convenient access to all of Austin. Downtown, the Domain and Lake Austin are all within 15 minutes and the airport is only 20 minutes away. With over 10 area coffee shops your day will have an energetic start whether you are dropping your kids off at the highly acclaimed schools or making the short commute to work.

Dining & Shopping

Allandale has a sneaky number of local restaurants around the neighborhood and in the immediate vicinity.

Some of the best option in the neighborhood are Fonda San Miguel, Citizen Eatery, Pinthouse Pizza & Brewing, and Phil’s Icehouse. If you are looking for something quick there are a number of food trucks at 5000 Burnet include Cornelia’s Eats, Rockin’ Rolls, Judy’s Mediterranean, Dawa Sushi, T-Loc’s Sonora, Budare’s.

The north Austin Costco is 10 minutes north near the Arboretum and Gateway shopping centers. If Costco doesn’t have what you are looking for one of the five other grocery stores likely does. They include Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, HEB, Randall’s and Sprouts Farmers Market. These two shopping centers have a number of stores and other restaurants, too.

Entertainment & Things to Do

Northcross Plaza on West Anderson Lane at the north end of Allandale has a handful of stores, restaurants and one of Alamo Drafthouse. If you are interested in other things to do both downtown Austin and the Domain are a mere 15 minutes away but in opposite directions. Downtown Austin offers restaurants, night life, museums, Austin bats on Congress Bridge, and many other activities. The Domain includes high end shopping, restaurants, night life and is right next door to Q2 stadium and the Austin FC MLS soccer team, Austin’s only professional major league sports franchise.

Along with these locations there are other seasonal activities to be taken advantage of in Austin throughout the year. Spending time on Lake Austin or Lake Travis to beat the summer heat is always popular, as its spending time in one of the parks, greenbelts or trails in the area. Events from SXSW, ACL Festival, Formula 1 and University of Texas sporting events are all popular activities.

Schools

Allandale is located in the Austin Independent School District. The elementary school servicing the neighborhood is Gullett, the middle school is Lamar, and the high school is McCallum. These highly rated schools add to the appeal of the neighborhood for residence.

Gullett Elementary is a highly rated school that offers a rigorous academic program and a variety of extracurricular activities. Lamar Middle School is known for its strong music program, which includes a jazz band and an orchestra. McCallum High School is a top-rated school that offers a wide range of academic and extracurricular programs, including advanced placement courses and a nationally recognized theater program.
